The Simpsons VR Couch Gag for 600th Episode!

In news that kind of shocked our collective brains, The Simpsons has just debuted its 600th episode!

The jaundiced-looking family first debuted on The Tracey Ullman show in April 1987 before getting their own series on December 17th, 1989. Currently in its 28th consecutive season, the show is the longest running American sitcom, animated show and scripted primetime series in history.

For the 27th Treehouse of Terror, the show has ventured into the brave new world of virtual reality with the creation of a couch gag that has been crafted for VR. You’ll be able to step into the world of Simpsons and peer around in any direction to reveal your own stories and gags.

It’s a really cool experience for fans as you’re led through a story which is quite like Planet of the Apes, complete with appearances by plenty of familiar faces (and voices) and a look that perfectly replicates the show.

It works best with a headset and is available on iOS and Android. You can also view it all right on your phone by moving around inside the experience.

What new technology could they use during the next 600 episodes!?
