Virtual Reality is going to transform the way we interact and integrate with entertainment, blurring the boundaries between our world and one designed by creative teams.
That process is already starting with the arrival of a new kind of virtual reality ‘experience’- an interactive movie trailer.
This involves stepping into the world of the movie and being able to move around and interact to some degree. It’s an immersive next level of marketing, and you’re going to be seeing a lot more of it soon.
Right now the technology is debuting with the Blair Witch VR trailer which is all about bringing you thrills from the new horror movie.
You just download the app on Android or iOS and boot it up on your appropriate VR headset, we also highly recommend using headphones. Then you’re transported to a dark and dreary wood with an abandoned building standing in front of you. And things happen from there.
This 90 second teaser is a way to introduce people to the environments of the Blair Witch movie in an entirely new way which doesn’t’ rely on just reusing the same promotional footage as the trailers.
It’s early days for virtual reality but you’re going to be seeing a lot more in the months and years to come.
