After weeks of anticipation, Apple finally released iOS 11 last week.
The latest version of Apple’s operating system brings with it lots of great new features for the iPhone and iPad, and in today’s blog we’re going to take a look at the various changes in store for Apple devices.
iOS 11’s revamped Control Center is quite different to previous versions. Whereas accessing the Control Center used to bring up a small box at the bottom of your device’s screen, it now takes up the full screen. You can also customise the Control Center and add features such as Voice Memos and rearrange existing settings so the settings and features you use most can be quickly accessed whenever you need them.
The QuickType Keyboard is a new feature for the iPad and iPhone, and is designed to making typing on these devices much simpler than before. For instance, the iPad’s QuickType Keyboard stores letters, numbers, symbols and punctuation marks all on the same keyboard so you just have flick down on a key to select the character you want. Similarly, the iPhone’s QuickType Keyboard features a one-handed typing mode that brings the keyboard characters closer to your thumb.
Apple’s intelligent assistant Siri has also been updated and is now capable of a number of new tasks including sending messages on your behalf and setting timers. Siri has a new interface that provides multiple results for your requests and questions, and can now translate English phrases to Chinese, French, German, Spanish and Italian. Apple has stated that new languages will be added to this feature in the coming months.
These are just a few of the amazing new features included with iOS 11, which is available to download now for the iPhone, iPad and iPod.
