A new generation of PlayStation brings plenty of opportunities for LittleBigPlanet 3 to go bigger and better than anything that has gone before.
LittleBigPlanet 3 is set on a brand new planet in the LBP universe called Bunkum. The story follows in the aftermath of three evil Titans being released into the world. It is then up to Sackboy and his new friends to put a stop to them, and their unskilled creator, Newton. Otherwise, they will destroy the creative paradise that is Bunkun.
At its core, this game resembles other titles in the franchise. Players will be tasked with getting their character across a variety of interesting, dynamic and, at times, outright dangerous levels. This time, Sackboy has some help from Oddsock, Swoop, and Big Toggle who have their own unique traits and abilities. Naturally, these will come in handy over the course of the adventure as players must utilise weighted objects, navigate small tunnels, and outrun giant boulders.
Once again, Stephen Fry lends his dulcet tones to the role of the Narrator. He is joined by Hugh Laurie who will voice the game’s main antagonist, and voice-acting greats, including Tara Strong and Nolan North. Unlike previous titles, which restricted voice-acting to their cut-scenes, LittleBigPlanet 3 will feature voice-acting during both gameplay and cut-scenes.
It wouldn’t be a LittleBigPlanet game if it didn’t allow players to create their own levels or explore the creative works of other players. The good news for those who like trying out other peoples’ creations is that it will be possible to play any of the levels created in LittleBigPlanet and LittleBigPlanet 2 right out of the box. And the number of levels available to play will only grow over time, but they’re likely to be more complex this year.
While previous titles had three playable layers of depth, LittleBigPlanet 3 extends this to 16 layers. The Create mode also features more powerful tools for more gameplay and customisation possibilities for seasoned Creators. In spite of this, Sumo Digital has redesigned the Create tools to make the mode more accessible and robust. The previous titles had some amazing user-created levels and we’re expecting great things in the near future.
Sumo Digital refuses to let the series stagnate and the new features, power-ups and environment should keep players, new or experienced, entertained and challenged. With an intriguing Story mode, a detailed Create mode, and more user-generated levels than you could ever dream of getting through, LittleBigPlanet 3 will keep you occupied for hours on end.
LittleBigPlanet 3 will be released on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3on November 28th.
In Short: Sumo Digital is bringing the iconic LittleBigPlanet franchise to a new generation of consoles, complete with new characters, mechanics, and opportunities.
