Popular messaging service WhatsApp received some new features for the iPhone version of the app this week as part of the version 2.17.40 update.
Most notably, users can pin up to three chats to the top of the chats menu for quick and easy access to their favourite conversations, a feature that has been available to Android users since May.
To pin a chat, simply update WhatsApp to the latest version, swipe right on the chat you want to pin to access the Pin option (found beside Unread), click on Pin and the chat will be moved to the top of the menu until you decided to Unpin it.Wh
In addition to the new Pin feature, WhatsApp for iPhone users can now send and receive documents of any type, as support for all file types is included in the latest iOS update.
Attaching a document to a WhatsApp chat is as simple as using the Pin feature: simply open a chat, tap the attach button and select the document you want to send.
Support for all files was added to the Android version of WhatsApp last week.
WhatsApp update version 2.17.40 for iOS also brings with it a function for deleting groups of photos instantaneously: tap and hold on the photo album you want to delete and select the Delete All option.
As noted in an article from Gadgets 360, it looks like the new update also includes a hidden feature that is purposely inaccessible, at least for the time being.
WhatsApp is reportedly testing support for in-app YouTube video playback, which will allow users to watch YouTube videos without having to leave WhatsApp.
It’s likely that support for YouTube video playback will go live within the next month or two.
