Easily the most popular online streaming service in the world, Netflix features thousands of TV shows and movies and is updated with new titles every month. Netflix is particularly noted for its original TV shows like House of Cards, Narcos and Stranger Things, and its original movies such as Okja and War Machine.
It also features lots of great documentaries in addition to children’s shows, so you’re guaranteed something for every member of the family with this app. Additionally, you can download select TV shows and movies to watch on mobile devices and laptops when you’re without an Internet connection, enabling you to enjoy Netflix when travelling. Netflix costs €7.99 for a basic monthly subscription. Sign up today for a free trial month.
Sky’s on-demand app NOW TV was launched back in April and is advertised as an alternative to subscription services like the aforementioned Netflix. The app claims to provide viewers with ‘the best of pay TV without a contract’.
Content-wise NOW TV offers an Entertainment Pass, Sky Cinema Pass, Entertainment and Cinema joint Pass, and a Sky Sports Pass, so there’s plenty of great TV shows, movies and sporting events to choose from. The basic NOW TV Entertainment Pass costs €15 a month and you can sign up for a free 14 day trial now.
