Best of the Rest from E3 2017

E3EXPO

This year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2017 was another jam packed event with lots of big announcements about upcoming video games. Our previous blog took a look at the best video game reveals from the first few days of E3, while today’s blog covers the best of the rest from this year’s conference.

Far Cry 5

Ubisoft technically announced Far Cry 5 on Mary 26, but the company saved all its juicy trailers and information for this year’s E3 including the world gameplay premier, which you can see below. Set in the fictional Hope County, Montana, the latest entry in the Far Cry series tasks players with bringing the doomsday militia cult Eden’s Gate to justice. It’s scheduled for release on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on February 27th, 2018.

Super Mario Odyssey

Mario’s debut for the Nintendo Switch looks very similar in style and function to fan favourites Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine e.g. lots of exploration in a big 3D environment with plenty of things to collect and colourful enemies to defeat. Super Mario Odyssey is set for release on the Nintendo Switch on October 27th, 2017.

Star Wars: Battlefront II

Star Wars: Battlefront II is the most viewed game of E3 on YouTube, and for good reason too. The fourth instalment of the Star Wars: Battlefront franchise, features a single player campaign, plenty of massive multiplayer matches and a wide variety of locations and characters from the prequel, original and sequel Star Wars trilogies.

Sonic Mania

Sonic Mania is a throwback to the good old days of the Sega Mega Drive and features the same kind of high octane 2D gameplay that made the little blue hedgehog famous back in the 90s. It’s being developed by indie studios and self-admitted Sonic superfans Headcannon and PagodaWest Games, who are recreating classic levels from the original trilogy of games as well as adding their own fresh ideas.
