Google Photos for iOS Adds Apple TV Support

Good news for Apple TV owners: the latest update for the Google Photos iOS app adds the ability to send images from your iPhone to your Apple TV.

The Google Photos version 2.14.0 update for iOS features AirPlay support for the app, which can be used to transfer images from smartphones to larger devices such as an iPad or the aforementioned Apple TV.

The addition of AirPlay support for Google Photos is a great idea as it gives you the option of enjoying the pictures you’ve taken with your iPhone on a much larger TV screen, with a greater level of detail than what’s available from a smartphone screen.

Soak up some photos from your sunny holidays or reminisce about those special relationships when viewing pictures of family and friends, all with stunning clarity and from the comfort of your couch!

In addition to the AirPlay support for Apple TV, the latest Google Photos iOS update also improves the performance of the app.

It’s the second update Google Photos has received in April, as earlier this month the version 2.13 update for Android was released, bringing with it a video stabilisation feature that improves the smoothness of video recordings.

To use AirPlay to transfer images from your iPhone to your Apple TV, take the following steps:

  • Connect your Apple TV to the same WiFI network as your iPhone
  • Swipe up on your iPhone to access the Control Center
  • Swipe horizontally to access Now Playing
  • Tap the AirPlay icon to access the list of available AirPlay devices and select Apple TV

Your iPhone should now be connected to your Apple TV. To turn off AirPlay, simply repeat the above steps and deselect your Apple TV from the list.

For the very best in Apple, shop in-store or online.
