Many people have started creating social media accounts for their darling pets, but they’ve needed human input to garner followers. That could all change soon with the Posting Tail, which takes snaps automatically of things that make your pet happy.
The camera-equipped vest is worn by your dog and, when it senses that your pet is happy, it will snap a picture that it can then post to Facebook. It judges when to snap a shot based on the speed of your dog’s tail wag and the camera faces towards the back of your dog’s head so you can see what it sees.
The Posting Tail uses a Raspberry Pi computer board and a sensor on the dog’s tail so that it can tell the difference between a normal tail wag and a so-called happy tail wag. It’s Wi-Fi enabled and can connect via 3G broadband, so it can snap and post a photo from almost anywhere. Not only that but it can include GPS data and put a pin on a map to show you where the picture was taken.
The vest has been developed by Pedigree and ad agency Saatchi & Saatchi Madrid. You can get an idea of how it works in the video from Saatchi & Saatchi Madrid.
