It’s no wonder that videos recorded using drones are taking YouTube by storm. They have given us a fascinating perspective on the world around us that might not otherwise be possible; show us an up-close-and-personal look at the animal kingdom, and sometimes how they feel about these whirring devices; and there have been some last minute saves too!

My first day with my drone
Someone overestimated how much use they could get from their drone on their first day with it. Drama ensues as the drone heads towards water! This video was nominated for drone video of the year in the Netherlands.
Ultimate Drone Save
Unfortunately, that person wasn’t the only owner to nearly lose their drone. Here’s another dramatic last minute save. Once again, there’s water involved.
2m Wedge-Tailed Eagle takes down Drone
Drones must be a peculiar sight for birds that are used to ruling the sky. This wedge-tailed eagle takes issue with the drone invading its airspace and takes matters into its own talons.
Chimpanzee vs Drone
Drones can give us an insight into animals in their natural habitat. We now know that Chimpanzees value their privacy, are immensely curious creatures, and are pretty handy with large branches.
Drone Fisherman
Some people aren’t too happy with drones flying around them either. This particular fisherman put his skills on display, catching a drone in mid-air. The drone owner did manage to fly it back to safety though.
Auschwitz: Drone video of Nazi concentration camp
This drone video shows the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp as it currently stands. The site is visited by thousands of tourists every year, but this drone video gives you an alternative viewpoint, showcasing the scale of the site from the air. It’s a poignant video of one of the most infamous places in world history.
Drones Sacrificed for Spectacular Volcano Video
Unless you have a very good reason for it, we wouldn’t advise getting this close to an active volcano. Researchers sent drones into the spectacular yet dangerous Marum Crater to get a picture of the makeup of the volcano in Vanuatu.
