The latest update to the camera software for the GoPro Hero 4 Black and Silver cameras adds a bunch of new features which will make your action camera work even more impressive!
The full change log goes like this:
HERO4 Silver/Black update v03.00.00
Adds ability to create and save short video clips on the camera
Adds ISO settings for video — 800 and 3200
Default video setting changed to 1080p60
Adds Simplified Chinese as a language option on the camera.
Improves camera and smartphone connectivity
Enhanced thumbnail gallery with larger images
General Improvements + Bug Fixes
Improves power efficiency in Time Lapse photo mode
A lot of these updates have to do with making it easier to browse your videos, especially while using the attached touchscreen LCD on the back of the Hero 4 Silver model or the optional screen for the Black version.
It’s much easier to get a glimpse at the video you want to look at thanks to the larger thumbnails but the biggest change has to be the ability to take a 5 second clip or still from a longer piece of video.
This makes it easier than ever to choose the best part of video, export it and share in a way which doesn’t involve uploading huge amounts of data to social media. It’s the first step to giving you real editing control right on the camera itself, something which GoPro is likely to offer very soon.
To update your GoPro, just connect the camera to your mobile app now wirelessly and you’ll see an option to grab the update. Take note – the camera will need to be well charged in order to take the update and you’ll need to have some space free on the internal microSD card.
