Can an iPhone stop a bullet?

We wouldn’t advise making a suit of armour from iPhones just yet, but if you’ve got enough of them, an iPhone will eventually stop a fired bullet.

A YouTube user known as EverythingApplePro decided to test how many iPhones it would take to stop an AK-74 bullet fired at close range.

An AK-74 fires bullets that leave the muzzle at up to 2,900 feet per second. And if that wasn’t intimidating enough, he packs in ammunition with light armour piercing capabilities.

He puts the line-up of iPhones to the test a couple of times. Despite hitting the wooden frame with the first shot, the bullet still tears through a few handsets. His second shot is much more accurate. You can see the damage done in the video below.

It’s safe to say that we won’t be banking on an iPhone to stop a bullet any time soon. Thankfully, this experiment was carried out in the safest way possible. And just in case it needs to be said, don’t try this at home.
