Harvey Norman raises over €39,000 for the Marie Keating Foundation

We were delighted to recently present a cheque of €39,663 to the Marie Keating Foundation.

The Sleep Pink campaign saw our teams across the nation work tirelessly to fundraise for the foundation. During the campaign, a percentage of the sales of the ‘Marie’ mattress was donated to the Marie Keating Foundation. Customers were also invited to donate to the foundation by ‘Adding a Euro’ to their purchase amount at the checkout.

In addition, our teams created fundraisers to encourage donations from within the business and to get everyone into the charitable mood. From bake sales to fun runs, dress-up days to sponsored walks, staff members did exceptional work in spreading the message of the campaign.

Having been set up in 1998, the Marie Keating Foundation offers national cancer awareness and education campaigns covering the most common cancers affecting people in Ireland, including bowel, breast, cervical, lung, prostate and skin cancer. In 2018 alone, over 580 families received assistance from the Comfort Fund, a service which provides financial assistance to people who are receiving treatment for any kind of cancer and who find themselves in financial difficulty as a result.

Robbie Auckram, our General Manager of Bedding in Harvey Norman was immensely proud of being involved. He said:

“I got involved in the foundation after hearing the history of how it came about. It resonated with me how similar the story was with my own family’s experiences. Upon meeting Linda Keating and seeing her selfless dedication, it convinced me that any fundraising and contribution we gave would go to a much needed sector of the foundation. Our staff were the superstars of this campaign and got really creative with their fundraising.”

With having collected €39,663 through the Sleep Pink campaign alone, Harvey Norman has now raised €160,000 for the Marie Keating Foundation since they began sponsoring in 2011.
