The Spiders, Ireland’s leading digital technology awards, recently announced their shortlists and we’re delighted to say that we’ve been nominated for Best in Mobile Commerce & Transactions. As another award show beckons for Harvey Norman, we can’t help but look back at how far we’ve come in 6 short years. We’ve seen incredible growth since our website launched in November 2012; we now have over 14,000 products online! Our Go Blog also launched in 2012 with the goal of bringing our customers useful insights, tips and information on our diverse range of products. Today, we would like to tell you about the Spiders and why we’ve been shortlisted.
The Spiders are Ireland’s leading digital technology awards so we’re over the moon to be shortlisted next to so many other great companies and websites this year. The Spiders were established in 1996 and are the highest accreditation for digital excellence in Ireland, with awards in 15 categories being given out and all nominees judged by business experts. The awards are given for digital innovation, so we’re delighted that our efforts in developing our online shopping experience haven’t gone unnoticed.
Simply put, the goal of the campaign behind our nomination was to align the online shopping experience with the offline experience. We wanted to make it as easy as possible for our customers to find the right product and do so in the shortest time. Our site needed to be easy to navigate because customers wanted to research our products while in-store before purchasing. It was also important for customers who quickly needed to either find the product they were looking for or simply research it from home. We also wanted to give customers the opportunity to investigate our products from the comfort of their couches, which is why we introduced cutting edge 3D modeling that creates a more realistic online product display. Customers can rotate the product and inspect it from every angle, making it easier to discover if it’s the right product for them.
The Spiders nomination is going to be great encouragement for our online team who will continue to improve our website and customer shopping experience. With 3D modelling being rolled out in other categories soon, who knows what the future holds for Harvey Norman online!
