Here’s What We Learnt At IFA Berlin

IFAoutside

Our home appliance and technology team recently travelled to Berlin for a very special event. No, it wasn’t U2’s abruptly ended concert, it was to the IFA trade show to discover the latest in technological advancements. Cutting edge technology was everywhere to be seen, with the team checking out the latest in headphone, TV and cooking developments. Luckily for you, they brought home a range of innovative products that will be hitting our shelves in the near future. We know you’re eager to hear the latest tech news, so let’s take a little look at what the team found in Berlin!

Sound

Sennheiser showcased their brand new MOMENTUM True Wireless Bluetooth headphones in Berlin and we’ll be showcasing them in-store soon. These headphones combine stunning sound quality with an unmatched audio performance to create an immersive experience. The headphones even allow you to hear ambient sounds which saves you from having to take them out during conversations.

That’s not all from Sennheiser either as they’re also releasing the incredible Ambeo Soundbar that’s going to change the way you watch TV. Not your typical soundbar, the Ambeo creates 3D immersive sound that seems to come from every angle. Its 13 drivers and deep base generate a sound that has to be heard to be believed.

Sony also launched their new WH-1000XM3 Wireless noise cancelling headphones. The newly-developed HD Noise Cancelling Processor QN1 delivers four times greater performance than its predecessor. Part of the 1000X Series, these headphones are perfect for traveling and we’re excited to announce they’ll be available in Harvey Norman in the near future.

TVs

We would be lying if we said the team weren’t looking forward to seeing some state of the art TVs in Berlin. They weren’t disappointed either as Sony, Samsung and LG all had something special on display. Samsung revealed the world’s first 8K TV -the Q900R QLED 8K, which came as a surprise as no films are available in 8K yet! However, its 8K AI upscaling will make even non-4K content look better.

LG also gave the team a pleasant surprise as they made their way into the LG section. They were greeted by a Waterfall TV Tour which they said was a “a beautiful escape to the mountains, giving us a moment out from the hustle and bustle of the show”. Sony had their own special announcement to make as they launched the Bravia® Master Series TV. This TV will be available in Europe from September. So what’s so special about it? The advanced audio technology, called Acoustic Surface Audio+, allows the sound to be released from every inch of this big screen TV, creating a cinematic effect right there in your living room.

Cooking

We here at Harvey Norman love a cooking instruction, not just for the free tasters, but also for the useful appliances we discover along the way. The trip to Berlin was no different as the team were treated to a cooking instruction by Christian Mittermeier. Our tech expert Colin Baker also cooked up a storm on a range of AEG appliances, a brand we launched in Harvey Norman last month, to the delight of the lucky team. We have cookers, dishwashers, hobs, vacuums and fridges available within the range, meaning it’s the only one you really need to look at to fit out your home. BSH also stunned us with their Siemens Free Induction Hob Plus. We’d love to make you guess what’s so special about this hob but it might be too difficult to figure out! The hob detects the location of your pot or pan on its surface and heats only that area, no matter where on the hob it is! This means more room for cooking up your favourite dishes without the worry of running out of hobs.

So that concludes our IFA Berlin experience until next year! The team learnt so much and we can’t wait to show off the latest technology they’ve brought home.
