And now for the smart speakers!
We’ve been waiting quite a while to get our hands on these futuristic little devices and we’re happy to report that both speakers are simple-to-use and incredibly handy, so the wait was definitely worth it!
Google took over the Landsdowne Place development in Ballsbridge on Tuesday for the launch of the two smart speakers, giving visitors a practical demonstration of all the amazing things Google’s smart speakers can do.
As noted by the Irish Times (who attended the launch) the speakers are powered by Google Assistant, the tech giant’s voice activated intelligent assistant, and you can ask the speakers to do a range of things from checking your calendar to playing your favourite songs, and as the Irish Times article points out both the Google Home and Google Home Mini have been given a very Irish upgrade:
“Ask Google “what’s the craic?” and you’ll get one of three answers (for now).”
The Google Home and Google Home Mini smart speakers are designed to provide you with quick and easy voice control over any other smart devices you have in your home, and thanks to speakers Chromecast support you can also stream shows, films and music on your TV or speakers just by asking the speakers to do so.
Google Home and Google Home Mini instantly recognise your voice and both devices are activated through use of a ‘hot’ phrase, in this case “Ok Google” or “Hey Google”, so you’ll never again have to worry about missing remote controls, and offer personalised help with your schedule, reminders, calls and much more.
