Hello and welcome to the second part of our special blog covering the Google I/O 2018 developer conference, Google’s annual product and service preview.
In yesterday’s entry we talked about upcoming changes to Google Photos and Google Assistant plus new platforms like the Android P operating system and Google Lens.
In today’s post we’re discussing the biggest announcements from the second day of the conference, which include new smart displays, smartwatches and a VR story creator.
Google Smart Displays
Google’s upcoming range of smart displays are set to hit the market in July, offering consumers a pretty cool take on the common computer display. As these are ‘smart’ displays, they come with voice control functions like the Google Home smart speaker and are fitted with a touchscreen that can be used to play games and watch videos.
Google Wear OS
The next generation of Google Wear OS smartwatches has yet to be announced, but the tech giant did reveal some interesting tidbits about what these devices will feature when they do eventually launch. In addition to a smarter Google Assistant, the next range of Wear OS smartwatches feature Qualcomm chips for faster processing, more in-depth fitness insights, a new and improved design and a greater battery life.
Google Tour Creator
One of the more surprising and exciting announcements of day two was the reveal of Google Tour Creator, an awesome little VR tool that allows users to create their very own virtual reality tour. Google Tour Creator makes it super simple to create original VR tours: patch together 360-degree photos into a VR tour complete with notes and dialogue. Google is hoping the Google Tour Creator catches on in schools and will encourage educators to introduce newer technologies into the classroom.
Google I/O 2018 was another awe-inspiring event from the world’s biggest technology company and we can’t wait to get our hands on all the amazing products showcased at Google I/0 2018.
