The Best Apps of January 2018

January turned out to be a bit of a quiet month on the apps front but we were thankfully treated to a few notable releases including Google’s two new photo editing apps, an innovative News app and a comprehensive smartphone customisation app.

Don’t forget to visit the Apps section of the Harvey Norman Go blog for links to our previous blogs!

Storyboard & Selfissimo (Android, iOS / Android)

The latest photo editing apps from Internet powerhouse Google, Storyboard and Selfissimo are dedicated to transforming your videos and photographs into works of art. The Android exclusive Storyboard converts videos into eye-catching comics whereas Selfissimo automatically takes black and white selfie snaps every time you pose. Storyboard and Selfissimo are pretty fun apps to use and are free to download right now.

Nwsty (iOS / Android)

In the age of fake news and social media, it’s hard to stay abreast of truthful news stories and even harder to stay interested due to our ever-shortening attention spans! Nwsty aims to counter these problems by providing you with 6-10 concise summaries of the most important news events in the world on a daily basis. The point of Nwsty is to make people smarter, more informed and more aware of their surroundings via easy-to-digest news stories. It’s a great idea and one that will hopefully counteract the spread of fakes news while also encouraging people to read more for longer.

Zedge (iOS / Android)

Zedge is a comprehensive smartphone customisation app offering millions of free ringtones, wallpapers, notifications and icons to make your smartphone one of a kind. There is a ton of amazing content packed into this handy little application, all of which is absolutely free to use! Whether you’re in need of some stunning HD wallpapers, a chipper high quality ringtone or some new app icons or widgets, Zedge has you covered.

For the very best in smartphones, shop in-store or online.
