The Most Romantic Films on Netflix this Valentine’s Day

Some couples like to celebrate Valentine’s Day with a special weekend away to their favourite destination while others enjoy a romantic meal at an exclusive restaurant, but for many Irish couples there’s simply no better way to spend the most romantic day of the year than by curling up on the couch and watching a classic romantic movie or two.

There are plenty of great romantic films on Netflix to choose from and we’ve rounded up a couple of our favourites so you don’t have to spend an age searching through what’s on offer!

Notting Hill

One of the most famous romcoms of all time, the award-winning Notting Hill is a classic ‘Lady and the Tramp’ tale that tells the story of how a bumbling bookstore owner and a Hollywood princess manage to overcome the odds and fall in love. This is definitely the funniest film on the list so if you’re looking for something a little more light-hearted this Valentine’s Day then we recommend sticking on this feel-good film.

Possibly the most expensive love story ever filmed, James Cameron’s Oscar-winning masterpiece uses the Titanic’s disastrous maiden voyage as the backdrop for another love story about two souls from very different backgrounds who were destined to fall in love. Titanic is undoubtedly a serious tearjerker so make sure you and your loved one stock up on tissues before setting sail.

The Notebook

Another tearjerker but one with a somewhat happier ending than Titanic, 2004’s The Notebook is regarded as a classic romantic drama film up there with the best of them. It’s the story of two young lovers living in America during the 1940’s and their fight to be together. Actors Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams were particularly praised for their on-screen chemistry and electrifying performances.
