Apple introduced a number of new products alongside the hotly anticipated iPhone X at a special event in Cupertino, California yesterday.
The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus were both confirmed as the next generation of iPhone smartphones, and both devices feature several upgrades.
These include improved displays, 25 percent louder built-in speakers, Qi wireless charging support, and improved cameras with greater image detail.
The 4.7-inch iPhone 8 and 5.5-inch iPhone 8 can both shoot 1080p videos in 240 frames per second.
In addition to the three new iPhone models, Apple also revealed Animojis, a new type of animated emoji for the iPhone X that uses the device’s facial recognition software to record the owner’s facial movements, allowing them to send personalised emojis to friends via iMessage.
There will be around 12 Animojis to choose from when the device launches including a panda and unicorn, and Apple intends to add more to the collection.
Apple also unveiled the Apple Watch Series 3 during the event, the latest smartwatch from Apple and the first to support phone calls independent of another Apple device.
The Apple Watch Series 3 features GPS, is swimproof and is fitted with an all-day battery.
Another long-rumoured product unveiled during the event is the Apple AirPower Wireless Charging Pad, a Qi wireless charger capable of charging applicable Apple products simply by placing the device on the pad.
It supports multiple charging at once and will be available to purchase from early next year.
Last but not least, Apple announced its latest operating system, iOS 11, which will start rolling out to compatible devices from September 19th.
iOS 11 includes a new translation feature for Siri, the iPhone X’s Animojis, a revamped Control Centre and a number of new features for the upcoming iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus.
Yesterday’s event proved that there’s plenty to look forward to from Apple over the next year and we can’t wait to get our hands on these amazing products.
