WhatsApp has released a new update for Android devices that brings with it a pretty useful feature that allows users to pin conversations with their favourite contacts to the top of the Chats tab.
The new feature was first spotted by Android Police, and is part of the latest WhatsApp update (Android versions 2.17.162 or 2.17.163) for WhatsApp beta for Android.
Simply referred to as Pin, the feature allows you to select up to three contacts and pin these contacts to the top of the Chats tab so you have quick and easy access to your previous conversations whenever you open the messaging app.
To access the feature, open WhatsApp and press and hold on an individual or group contact you want to pin, and click on the Pin icon in the top bar.
This will automatically pin the contact, which will remain at the top of the Chat tab regardless of your interactions with other contacts, and you can un-pin contacts by holding down on the option and disabling the Pin button.
The update brings with it a number of other new features, namely the ability to Delete, Mute and Archive conversations with contacts.
The addition of the new Pin feature is a small but smart move by WhatsApp: as any WhatsApp user will tell you, it can be difficult to keep track of conversations within the app, especially if you have multiple chats on the go.
As previously mentioned, WhatsApp’s new Pin feature is currently in beta phase at the moment but the company is expected to roll the feature out for all WhatsApp users as part of a new update in the coming weeks.
