Tips

It’s a good idea to first work out a budget for your home entertainment system and to consider what items from the system are an absolutely necessity. Spend some time researching the different products available and see which ones suit your finances and the space available at home best.

When setting up the room that will contain your home entertainment system, work out the optimal viewing distance for watching the TV. To do this, simply take your TV’s diagonal display size and multiply it by 1.5 to 2.5 to determine how far you should place your seating options from the TV. Make sure that the TV unit or wall bracket is at a comfortable viewing level.

You should also think about the angle the TV will be placed at and if this will cause any issues such as glare from a natural light source. Curved TVs are built to limit glare and increase the total viewing angle, resulting in a more immersive viewing experience.

Although speakers are a must have for any truly great home entertainment system, the sound can become muddled in smaller rooms. Try a soundbar instead, which contains multiple speakers in a single horizontal body that can often be placed below TVs and still provide impressive and immersive sound.

Of course if you do have the space for speakers then you should make sure these are kept on the floor and against the wall. Avoid placing speakers in cabinets or on shelves as the vibrations from the devices could cause unwanted rattling and disrupt the audio quality.
