Good news gamers: 2018 is shaping up to be one of the biggest years for video game releases.
We’ve already seen the release of Monster Hunter World, Dragon Ball FighterZ and UFC 3, but the best is definitely yet to come.
From the latest entry in the critically acclaimed Far Cry series to God of War’s PS4 debut and the innovative Detroit: Become Human, the next few months are looking pretty good for gamers everywhere.
Far Cry 5 (PS4 / Xbox One)
The latest entry in the long-running Far Cry series forgoes the exotic locations of previous games for a more topical setting; the fictional Hope County in modern-day Montana, USA.
Far Cry 5 puts you in the shoes of a sheriff’s deputy tasked with taking down a doomsday cult known as Eden’s Gate before they’re able to amass and army.
It looks to be the biggest and boldest Far Cry to date and comes with some pretty exciting new features including the ability to play the entire game co-op.
Far Cry 5 releases on the 27th of March.
God of War (PS4)
The upcoming God of War is the first of the series to launch on the PS4 and swaps the Greek mythology influence of previous games for a new backdrop inspired by the legends of Norse Gods.
Similarly, Kratos is no longer on a revenge mission but will instead spend the majority of the game mentoring and protecting his son Atreus, a new character for the series.
God of War has been completely rebuilt from the ground up and introduces new features, mechanics and a brand new story.
God of War releases on the 20th of April.
Detroit: Become Human (PS4)
Another PS4 exclusive, Detroit: Become Human is a brand new action-adventure game from the makers of Heavy Rain¸ Quantic Dream.
Set in a near-future Detroit, the game tells the story of three androids and their struggles with sentience and their journeys to find their place in society.
Quantic Dream is famous for making captivating movie-like video games that offer players branching stories with unrivalled choice and multiple endings, and it looks like Detroit: Become Human will be the studio’s most ambitious game so far.
