The St. Patrick’s Day Parade gets underway this Saturday in Dublin, and as usual promises to be one of the most incredible spectacles of the year.
Guaranteed to be a fun-filled day for the whole family, this year’s parade features spellbinding floats, captivating performers, incredible bands and a whole host of surprises.
The St. Patrick’s Day Parade is renowned around the world and for good reason too; attracting the cream of the crop of international and national performers, every parade is a feast for the senses and one of the most thrilling things you’ll see all year.
The theme for this year’s parade is Home is Where the Heart is and the magical performances and wondrous floats and puppets have all been inspired by the importance of home and family.
This year’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade kicks off at 12PM on Saturday, 17th of March, and begins its journey at Parnell Square, Dublin 1.
From there it will travel down O’Connell Street and across the Liffey before making its way up Dame Street and turning at Nicholas Street, finishing up at Kevin Street.
Understandably, the parade will attract hundreds of thousands of people from Ireland and across the world, so it’s recommended you get into town early if you want to claim a good viewing spot for yourself and the kids.
The St. Patrick’s Day Parade runs for about 2 hours so don’t worry if you are a bit late getting in, and it will of course be shown on TV so don’t forget to record it!
All of Dublin city will be transformed into a massive festival and there will be plenty of other great things to do and see throughout the day.
We’ll post a second blog about the various events taking place on St. Patrick’s Day later in the week.
