The Ideal Home show is kicking off on the 15th of April, with three days of events, workshops and inspiration for your home.
Harvey Norman will be on hand with their own unique Connected Home Showhouse, which shows off the technology of the not-so-distant future, and how it will make your life a little easier everyday.
Connected technology is a major new innovation which allows for the integration of numerous appliances in your home, complete with extra features that you can access via your smartphone. One system that’s on the way is Home Connect.
This is a partnership between a number of different brands across Europe which will help to make your house smart as easily as possible. It all comes together in a single smartphone app which you can use to control compatible devices from afar.
One company which is getting behind Home Connect in a big way is Bosch, with a suite of products designed to make your life easier. Like the Serie 8 dishwasher which you can program to start when you’re not around and which sends you a message when it’s finished washing.
Or for those who really don’t like getting up in the morning, the Bosch Coffee Machine can be activated while you’re still in bed, and brew the perfect cup of coffee – all you have to do is wait for the aroma to waft your way for that extra kick of energy!
You can set your oven to start while you’re out, ensuring dinner is piping hot when you get in the door. And Bosch has some really impressive features for its fridges, including the ability to use two cameras inside the doors of the unit any time you like. That way, you can take a peek anytime to see if you’ve forgotten some essential groceries.
Connected technology isn’t out to change your home, or staff it with strange space age equipment. Instead it’s meant to integrate seamlessly with the appliances you already have, and the way you already work to give a little extra help when you need it most.
